Q · 01How fast can you stand up a new post?
Typical turnaround from signed contract to first shift is five to seven business days. For urgent needs we've done 24 hours, using the regional bench of vetted, credentialed officers we keep on standby in each metro. The long pole is almost always the site assessment and post-order review, not staffing.
Q · 02Do you subcontract or use 1099 officers?
Never. Every officer on every Shield of Steel post is a W-2 employee, directly trained, directly supervised, and directly covered by our workers' compensation and liability policies. We do not staff through day-labour pools, temp agencies, or sub-licenses under any circumstance.
Q · 03What happens if an officer doesn't show up?
Every post has a named primary officer, a named secondary, and a regional float. If the primary can't make the shift, the secondary is on-site before the gap opens. If the secondary can't make it, the float does. You see none of it. Our missed-post rate across 142 active posts in calendar year 2025 was 0.00%.
Q · 04How is pricing structured? Are you flexible?
Pricing is per-hour, per-officer, plus a flat monthly dispatch and management fee. Every proposal is line-itemed — you see labour, supervision, dispatch, equipment, uniform, and insurance allocations separately. We don't do hidden surcharges and we don't do sliding scales. Volume discounts kick in above 500 monthly hours.
Q · 05Can I speak to existing clients as references?
Yes. We'll provide three reference contacts in the industry closest to yours — healthcare, property, logistics, retail, construction, or events — before you sign. All three are direct operators, not marketing contacts. Most of our new business comes from those conversations.
Q · 06Do you work outside Tennessee and Mississippi?
Our primary standing-post and patrol footprint is Tennessee and Mississippi — all 95 TN counties and all 82 MS counties — from the Memphis command. We also take on selected work in Kentucky when a client has sites that straddle the border or a Tennessee account needs coverage extended across the line. Executive-protection details and short-term advisory travel nationally and internationally with the principal when required, under our federal and reciprocal-state credentials.
Q · 07What about insurance and indemnification?
$5M GL general liability, $2M surety bond, full TN workers' compensation, professional liability, and auto on every patrol vehicle. Certificates of insurance are delivered with every proposal and updated on renewal. We indemnify to the standard commercial-security contract; higher limits available on request at cost.
Q · 08How do I know the officer on my site is the real deal?
Every active officer carries a photo ID with their TN licence number on the front and our dispatch verification line on the back. Call the number any time, day or night, give the licence number, and we'll confirm they're on the roster, on shift, and on your site. Try it before you sign.
