Accessibility Statement
Last updated: June 15, 2026 · Shield of Steel LLC · Tennessee Lic. #14310
Shield of Steel was built on a simple promise: no one left behind. That promise does not stop with the people we protect in the field. It extends to every person who tries to reach us, learn about our services, or apply to join our team. We are committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who are blind or have low vision, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, people with limited mobility or dexterity, people with cognitive or learning differences, and anyone who relies on assistive technology to navigate the web.
Our Commitment to Access for Everyone
Accessibility is not a feature we bolt on. It is part of how we define doing the job right. A security firm exists to give people confidence that they can reach help and be heard, and no one should be shut out of that simply because of how they read a screen, move a cursor, or process information. We treat accessibility barriers the way we treat any operational gap: we own them, we document them, and we work to close them.
Conformance Target
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. WCAG 2.2 AA is the recognized international standard for making digital content perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for people with a wide range of disabilities. We treat that standard as our target and measure our work against it in good faith. Accessibility is a continuous practice, not a one-time certification, so we describe our current effort honestly rather than claim a perfection no website can guarantee.
Measures We Take
The following are the concrete steps we take to make this site accessible. These are not aspirations. They are how the site is built and maintained.
- Semantic HTML. Pages are structured with meaningful headings, landmarks, and elements so that assistive technology can interpret content and reading order correctly.
- Keyboard navigability. Interactive elements can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator, so a mouse is never required.
- Sufficient color contrast. On our dark theme, text and meaningful interface elements are chosen to provide adequate contrast against their background for readability.
- Descriptive alt text and link text. Images that carry meaning include text alternatives, and links are written to make sense out of context rather than relying on phrases like "click here."
- Responsive and zoomable layouts. The layout adapts to different screen sizes and orientations and supports browser zoom and text resizing without loss of content or function.
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences. When a visitor's system or browser signals a preference for reduced motion, we honor it and limit nonessential animation.
- No auto-playing audio. The site does not play sound automatically, so it will not interfere with screen readers or startle a visitor.
- Readable typography. We use legible type, comfortable line lengths, and clear spacing to reduce reading effort.
- Core content without JavaScript. The essential information and contact details on this site remain available even when JavaScript is unavailable or disabled.
Compatibility with Assistive Technology and Browsers
We design this site to work with the tools people actually use, including screen readers, screen magnifiers, and voice-control software, paired with current versions of major web browsers on desktop and mobile. Assistive technologies and browsers evolve, and combinations vary, so we cannot guarantee flawless behavior in every possible configuration. Where a specific tool or version produces a problem, we want to hear about it so we can investigate and improve.
Always-Available Alternatives
The web is one way to reach us, never the only way. If any part of this site is difficult for you to use, you can reach a real person directly.
- By phone: 855-SOS-1555. Our phone line is a complete alternative to any interaction on this website, including service inquiries, assessments, and questions about employment.
- By email: [email protected].
We will also provide information from this site in alternative formats on request, at no cost to you. If a different format would be more usable, contact us and tell us what works best, and we will accommodate the request.
Reporting an Accessibility Barrier
If you encounter content or functionality on this site that you cannot access, please tell us. Helpful details include the page address, what you were trying to do, the assistive technology and browser you were using, and a description of what happened. You can report a barrier by phone at 855-SOS-1555 or by email at [email protected].
We take these reports seriously and treat them as accountability, not criticism. We will acknowledge your report within two business days and will work promptly and in good faith to resolve the issue, or to deliver the information or service you needed through another channel in the meantime.
Known Limitations
We believe honesty serves people better than a flawless claim. Some content on this site, particularly third-party components such as embedded maps, may not yet fully meet our accessibility target, and certain elements outside our direct control can carry gaps we are still working to address. If you reach a feature you cannot use, contact us at 855-SOS-1555 or [email protected] and we will provide the information or assistance you need without delay while we improve the underlying experience.
Ongoing Effort and Periodic Review
Accessibility is part of how we maintain this site, not a box we check once. We review accessibility as part of our routine updates and as we add or change content, we apply WCAG 2.2 AA as our reference standard, and we factor the feedback we receive into our improvements. As tools, standards, and our own site evolve, we will continue to update this statement and our practices.
